The basic protection stack

Penny sleeve first. Slide the card into a soft penny sleeve — this shields the surface from the harder plastic around it.
Then a toploader or one-touch. Put the sleeved card into a rigid toploader (cheap, great for bulk and shipping) or a one-touch magnetic holder (premium display for your best cards).
Team bag for shipping. For sales, slip the toploader into a resealable team bag so it can't slide out.

Enemies of condition

Humidity — warps cards and clouds slabs. Keep things dry and stable.
Heat & sunlight — fades ink and bends cardstock. No attics, garages, or sunny shelves.
Pressure — never store cards flat under weight; keep them upright so corners don't crush.
Cheap PVC plastics — can damage cards over time; use PVC-free sleeves and holders.
Fingers — handle by the edges; oils mark surfaces, especially on holos.

Graded slabs
